Vietnam has issued a brand new decree to tighten cross-border advert laws for overseas firms like Google and Fb.

The Ministry of Data and Communications will take sole cost of regulating advertisements, as an alternative of sharing the duty with the Ministry of Tradition, Sports activities, and Tourism as earlier than.

Platforms that run advertisements should present particulars of their enterprise to the ministry 15 days earlier than operation. Particulars embrace the place their servers are positioned in Vietnam (if any) and contacts.

International platforms are required to forestall and take away content material that violates the regulation as required by the communications ministry or different competent authorities.

These platforms additionally want to supply info on the corporate or person that ran the unlawful content material.

The communications ministry or another competent authority would block these unlawful advertisements if the platforms don’t adjust to their demand.

Earlier final month, Le Quang Tu Do, deputy head of the Authority of Broadcasting and Digital Data underneath the ministry, stated the brand new decree would convey “new benefits” to native newspapers and media firms.
